For this Halloween I wanted to go for cute spooky and cosy! So I came up with this fun ghost theme cushion cover. Cushions are a wonderful way to add charm and a cosy feel to Halloween themed decor.

I used Scheepjes Cahlista 100% cotton yarn which gives a soft drape and comes in lots of beautiful colours. I chose jet black, deep violet, snow white, tangerine, ginger gold, mercury, apple green and electric blue.

When I first decided I wanted to make a Halloween cushion I had planned to use tapestry crochet. However I quickly realised there would be there would be too many colours to successfully carry the yarn without it becoming too chunky. This technique can also make controlling tension and hiding yarn more difficult to achieve.

So, I went for Intarsia crochet. This is like tapestry crochet except the unused yarns are not carried with the working yarn. Instead the yarn is dropped (but not cut) and picked up again when next needed. Lots of bobbins and patience are required!

I love how the final cushion cover turned out. Look out for the pattern on Etsy very soon!
