Pattern

With DK yarn and a 4mm crochet hook, ch4.

Round 1 Into 1st chain st work 1tr, 3dtr, 4tr, 1dtr (this is the bottom point of your heart), then continuing in the same 1st chain, work 4tr, 3dtr, 1tr up the other side of your heart. Next ch3 and sl-st to centre of your heart.

Round 2 Into the space between the ch3 and first tr made at the beginning of round 1, make 1dc, 1htr, 1tr. Then, working in the top of the sts, make 1tr in the 1st tr st from round 1. Make 3tr in the next 2 sts. Make 2tr in the next stitch. Make 1tr in each of the next 4 sts and then 1tr, 1dtr, 1tr in the next st (this is the bottom point of your heart).

Continuing up the other side of your heart, work 1tr into each of the next 4 sts, 2tr in the next st, 3tr in the next st, 3tr in the next st, 1tr in the last st, and then 1tr, 1htr, 1dc in the space between the ch 3 and the first tr of round 1. Finally sl-st to the centre of your heart and cut yarn.

Take the yarn through to the back of the heart and weave in ends.

The heart is now complete and makes lovely bunting as it is . . .

Or the bead and tassel can be added as shown below.

Adding the Tassel

Wrap yarn around a ruler or similar width object approximately 8 times. Thread a spare piece of yarn approximately 8 inches long onto a needle, and thread through the top of the strands wound around the ruler. Tie a knot and slide the yarn off the ruler. Cut through the yarn loops at the opposite end to the tied yarn.

Thread a bead onto the two strands used to tie the yarn and then attach the tassel to the end of the heart by sewing in place.

Your heart with tassel is now complete.

Assembling the Bunting

To make bunting, join your hearts together by threading a long strand of yarn (I used white cotton yarn) through stitches on either side of the ‘V’ of the heart, at the back. Remember to make sure this is not visible from the front.
